My Lovelies,
I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.
They say every story has a beginning, and mine started in the heart of East London (or Essex if you want to get postcode technical). Long before the tiaras and Louboutins, my world was a vibrant fusion of music, family (*COUGH* before the discussed high dysfunctionality and toxicity dropped kicked me in the jacksy), and the legendary childhood dilemma: "DUMPLINGS vs. BAKES". To this day, the debate over the rightful name for those fried bites of heaven continues!
I’ve been a storyteller for as long as I can remember. My parents fuelled that fire early on, moving me from a typewriter to a "snazzy" word processor as I filled pages with short stories. It was the real-life whirlwind of leaving home for university, navigating the first digital dating scenes, and the sting of heartbreak that truly birthed the world you see today.
I realised there was a gap in the market for stories that echoed the actual lives and experiences of my peers. I wanted fiction that felt real, radiant, and unapologetically rooted. So, alongside a crew of ride-or-die friends, I created Marcia Rochelle Burton, affectionately known as Mz. Bumper Queen.
What started as a grassroots movement, giving away gold-sprayed roses at London raves and self-publishing e-books has grown into a love letter to sisterhood and self-discovery. From Marcia’s "cheeky assets" to the 2011 ‘sobering’ deep-dive research in Jamaica for the upcoming (yes…. I know! The long overdue but NOT before its time) debut of Mr. Chinn, this journey has always been about celebrating the beauty of being perfectly imperfect.
Whether you’ve been "locked in" since 2008 or you’re just meeting the girls for the first time, thank you for being part of this movement. We’re just getting started.
Love, peace and lots of hair grease!
Namsta xx
